Speyside is the Scottish valley home to the greatest number of distilleries, and its gentle waters and fertile land have earned it the name “the cradle of scotch whisky”.
The clear spring water drawn before the river mist lifts is the source of malt whisky’s delicate flavour. The light, floral malt character and the sweetness of ripe fruit and honey come from the barley grown here and the oak casks that mature it.
Today we look at the Glenfiddich series, a hallmark of the Speyside style, and how distilleries along the same valley each develop a character of their own.
